STH provided full
architectural design services to the Florida Community College Science
Consortium for over 300,000 square feet of new science laboratory
and teaching facilities located on five separate campuses across
the state of Florida. The new prototypical Science & Technology
Buildings were designed to support a number of “Science and Health
Related” programs, mainly the Department of Natural Sciences and are
located at the Palm Beach Gardens “Eissey” Campus of Palm Beach
Community College, the South Florida Community College, Avon Park
Campus, the Saint John’s River Community College, Orange Park Campus and
the Lake Sumter Community College, Leesburg Campus as well as the Lake
Worth Florida campus of PBCC. Flexibility of
design for instructional spaces was a paramount challenge in the design,
as well as the recognition of advancements in utility and ventilation
technology to create buildings capable of updating as the demands of
these technologies change over time. The Department of Natural Sciences
includes four (4) large academic and scientific Areas: Biological
Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Physical
Sciences. On select campuses, medical Nursing programs are also included
in the design. These new state of the art buildings include adequate
modern classrooms and innovative laboratories for the students, as well
as offices and work areas for the faculty. |
