STH provided full
architectural design services for this new 4-story 67,000 s.f. Physical
Science Building located on the campus of Florida Institute of
Technology in Melbourne, Florida. The building features a cast in place
concrete structure clad in brick. It houses the physics, chemistry, and
astronomy departments. In addition to the teaching and research labs,
the center houses a roof-top observatory, a 2-story physics experimental
research lab with an overhead crane, and instrumentation teaching labs
complete with a 500 MHz NMR magnet. The F.W. Olin Physical Science
Building marks the second building designed by STH on this campus. The
first building completed by STH was the
Charles and Ruth Clemente Center. |
