When FAU needed to select a team who could deliver a complex facility on
an extremely tight schedule, they turned to the firm who they had
consistently ranked as one of their best performing architects - STH.
Funded through a loan from Palm Beach County, this new 41,000 square
foot research lab building serves as the temporary home for Scripps
Florida. Besides chemistry and biology labs, the facility includes an
automation laboratory. Here robots continuously perform repetitive tests
at a speed hundreds of times faster than would be possible if performed
by humans. The building is constructed utilizing tilt-wall panels which
is in keeping with university standards and allows for speedy
construction. The third building in a master-planned quadrangle, the
exterior design elements and finishes tie in with the existing
buildings. The project was completed just over one year from start of
design to completion of construction. |
