Palm Beach County Jail Expansion

Belle Glade & West Palm Beach, Florida

The West County Facility will encompass 358,000 s.f. of new construction as well as over 92,000 s.f. of renovated areas. The $92.6 million project includes a new housing facility consisting of a combination of dormitory and cell housing units each with its own secure recreation Area. Outpatient Medical and Mental Health, Jail Industries and the Programs and Services spaces as well as two courtrooms, two hearing rooms and three judicial suites are incorporated into the design. The Law Enforcement component will include a 30,000 s.f. expansion of which 5,000 s.f. will be allocated for an emergency preparedness area. Special communications and emergency power provisions are incorporated into the design required for the emergency preparedness. The existing Eagle Academy Building will be renovated to become the County’s new “Drug Farm”. The 35,000 s.f. building will receive a 20% renovation as well as a new 14,798 square feet addition. A new 38,800 s.f. standalone building will be designed to house the Eagle Academy component. The drug farm and Eagle Academy will share a track area, volleyball & basketball courts and a drill course hardscape area.
