STH provided full architectural design services for this new 2-story 57,250 s.f. Sports and Recreation Center located on the campus of Florida Institute of Technology in
Melbourne, Florida. The complex features a 1900 seat intramural standard collegiate gymnasium that can be expanded to accommodate 3200 people. A second adjacent varsity gym is also provided.
In addition to the gymnasiums, a complete fitness complex is also included and features free weights, exercise equipment, aerobics studio, six locker rooms, racquet ball court, food service areas, coach and staff offices, concessions area, equipment storage rooms, and a laundry facility. One enters the facility through a large atrium-like lobby that serves as the buildings main focal point of circulation. A natatorium has been incorporated in the site’s master plan and will be built in the future. |
