STH provided full
architectural services for this new Student Activity Center at the Boca
Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University. As the student body has
expanded to almost 30,000 students, FAU has found the need to provide
additional retail and dining space through the building of a new student
commons complex to expand their current center. The project consists of
a 36,671 s.f. addition to the existing facility as well as the
renovation of the current 19,203 s.f. University Center. The project
features study lounges, a commuter lounge, lockers, club storage,
conference rooms, multi-purpose rooms, a branch bank, and a computer
store. The renovation provides space for a grille / bar, game rooms,
food court, as well as student government offices. This new facility
creates a strong, inviting, visual statement for the main entrance as
well as providing FAU with a signature building on the south side of the
campus. |
